During this project, we could choose partners to film a teacher with. The interview was about a special project they are doing in the class. We then shared the videos with each other and used final cut pro to edit it. At first it was hard to transition from iMovie to FCP, but i soon got the hang of it. I liked this project because i learned how to use a new app as well as learn about a cool lab that Ms. Summa was doing.
In class, we worked with the equipment in more depth as well as find news stories and create news briefs. Also, we had to anchor a newscast and use our own briefs. I really enjoyed this project because we learned how to break down stories into the 5 Ws and the H and turn them into our own. Im excited to continue with the process in future projects. To edit our projects in class, we will be using Final Cut Pro and iMovie. During this section of the course, we only learned about iMovie and how to do everything you would need to do to edit your videos. From movie sound clips to adding pictures and B-Roll.
Interviewing should never be thought as an interrogation, but simply as a conversation. You never should ask yes of no questions because you won't get any details with those one word answers. The best way to start "the question" is to say, "tell me about...." Doing so will get great answers and the person you are interviewing will feel more comfortable.
The importance of sound is extremely important to a video because without it, the video would be very boring. But you have to be careful because if the sound is bad quality, it can also ruin the video. To get awesome sound, you have to get pretty close to the thing you are focusing on, which may be awkward, but it will be worth it in the end.
In this section I leaned all the pro ways to take a picture of video. The rules and basic guidelines as well. The rule of 3rds is also a huge thing to worry about when shooting something. Lastly, I learned different angles with WALLDO.
In this section, I learned that you can make almost any video on an iPad with the correct tools and materials. I also learned about Citizen Journalism. This is when individuals report info with different tools. In this section I learned how to express a story using action and reaction as well as the basics of a good video. In all good videos, there is more action than reaction to make the story more emotional. This section explained the basic ideas of making a video, audio, movement, focus and worthiness.
Towards the beginning of the year, my class made iMovie trailers to tell our classmates who we are. This surprisingly was hard for me because for some reason, my family likes to hide old photos from me. We also had to do the whole video on the iPad, including the editing. I liked this project because it got me back into the groove of iMovie.
